This is an all-time great Christmas movie, and there’s none better from the 21st Century. Elf - Okay, I said the list isn’t in order, but this is definitely the #1 film here.Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - Off-kilter, unexpected, and with sharp performances from a wonderful ensemble, it poses as an anti-holiday film yet it secretly loves the holiday. Following its Academy Award win for GUILLERMO DEL TORO’S PINOCCHIO, and acquisition of Animal Logic, Netflix reveals details for nine must-watch animated films to be released over the next 18 months. The trilogy begins with Alex Zamm’s 2017 rom-com, in which an American journalist (Rose McIver) travels to the fictional country of Aldovia at Christmastime. Tangerine - This may seem the least overtly “Christmas” film on the list, but the holidays can play out differently for people forced to fight for the right to simply exist. Take a whole Sunday to get cozy and make your way through the entire Christmas Prince saga. Let’s welcome in new blockbusters ( Spider-Man and Rocky have great Thanksgiving scenes), romances ( Sweet November, The Object of My Affection ), ’90s family comedies ( Son-in-Law, Beethoven ).Rare Exports - It wouldn’t be a Mark Hughes Christmas list without a horror movie, right? And this one is hilarious, irreverent, and all about the real holiday spirit.Seuss' the Grinch - Many (including me) were skeptical of a big-screen remake of such a classic tale, but they nailed it and it’s a wonderful treat for the whole family. Carol - If the first two films on the list were about love and friendship overcoming time and distance, this film argues that love and life are much more complex than that.Spoiler alert: It’s Santa, but this one’s bad. Bad Santa -This is a raunchy palette cleanser for the grownups to kick off the rest of the evening after the kids are off to bed. This is a fun romp of a Christmas movie, so make sure to carve out some time to watch it in the coming days or knights (we love word play in this house).Arthur Christmas - A silly but sweet and colorful Christmas tale for all ages, about Santa’s son learning the family business the hard way, to become a good Santa.11 Runtime: 2h 7m A modern retelling of the Dickens’ Scrooge story, Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, and Octavia Spencer star in Spirited. Spirited Rating: PG-13 Release date: Nov. This Disney+ documentary is a must-watch for Disney fans of all ages. A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas - Another buddy comedy for adults, and yes it has drugs in it too, but time and distance. Among the best movies anticipated for this holiday season is the Mickey biopic. The Night Before - Kick things off with an adult buddy comedy that reminds us time and distance are no match for love and friendship.
